Real Factory Farming

I usually dislike the term "factory farming." No matter what type of farm you are operating caring for the animals is your number one priority if you want to be successful. As far as the dairy industry goes about 97% of dairy farms are family owned. Families, like mine, own small one hundred cow operations and families own big farms. Size really doesn't matter. What matters is how you treat your animals.

But are there real factory farms somewhere?

I recently read an AP story about indoor farms in unused warehouses and empty factories. These farmers are growing plants under natural and artificial lights to sell. Some of the plants are grown using aquaponics, grown in water, and others by aeroponics, grown in the air.

I think it is a great idea taking unused space and creating value where there was none before. Wouldn't this be real factory farming?
